Seventh Fire Singers Hand Drum & Rattle Making Program

The Women and 2 Spirits Hand Drum Program is an 9-week drumming and singing program focused on revitalizing culture while healing through sacred medicine, where Indigenous women, two-spirits and Indigi-queers can learn how to make their own hand drum, rattle, and learn songs facilitated by various facilitators. Through smudge and talking circles, participants are encouraged to connect with each other in a safe space, and build confidence.

Program Schedule

Dates: Every Wednesday evening

Drum making workshop : October 8th, 5:30-9:00pm

Drum circles: October 15-December 3rd, 6:00-8:00pm

All materials, food and drinks are provided!

Facilitated by members of the 7th Fire Singers—a grassroots group of women and 2-Spirits living and practicing their art in Treaty 6 territory; this program began in the winter/spring of 2024 and was initially designed for youth to provide and revitalize culture in a safe space. Now wanted to expand this season's program by inviting women and 2-spirits of all ages (16+).

This program is free and generously funded by the Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation and supported by Station 20 West.

Note: There are limited spots available for the program including drum and rattle kits. The application process will help us create a program based on commitment. If you are interested in attending future drum circles but are not able to commit fully, please stay tuned for open circles in the future!
