Buffalo Futurism Field Trips: A Toolkit for Teachers will prepare you for taking students to Buffalo Futurism.
Buffalo Futurism is an augmented reality (AR) app that transforms māmowimīwēyitamōwin Park (formerly Regent Pool Park) in Regina into an Indigenous futuristic setting where tatanga (buffalo) have returned to the land and roam freely. With the Buffalo Futurism app, you and your students can listen to audio stories about tatanga and interact with animated digital 3D buffalo, crocuses, a tipi, zombies, and more –– right in the park.
This toolkit includes information on how to access Buffalo Futurism, what to bring with you, discussion questions, activities that you can do with students before, during, and after the field trip, and connections to Saskatchewan curriculum for Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. This toolkit may also be helpful to individuals and organizations planning to visit Buffalo Futurism.
