Common Weal Community Arts and the City of Prince Albert Public Art Working Group would like to invite you to the dedication of the Passage Home sculpture and healing park by Saulteaux artist Mary Longman. The artwork is a bronze memorial sculpture dedicated to Indigenous children, survivors of day schools, residential schools and the sixties scoop, and a commemoration for the First Nation leaders of the region who signed Treaty 6 on August 23, 1876 in determination to ensure their peoples would continue as distinct and flourishing nations. Situated in an artist-designed healing park facing the North Saskatchewan River, the Passage Home sculpture is based on the traditional travois carrier, which symbolically offers safe passage for children to return to their families and territories of origin.
