Apply to participate in the City of Saskatoon's new pilot mentorship program!
This new pilot initiative developed by the City of Saskatoon’s Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) is designed to raise awareness of the value and potential of permanent, temporary, and pop-up publicly engaged art in Saskatoon by engaging local communities, supporting emerging artists, and advocating for increased municipal sponsorship of diverse public art practices. Throughout the program, artists will receive practical professional skills and creative encouragement!
During the mentorship program, mentees will develop a mock-proposal for a future public-facing artwork. This artwork could consist of a community-engaged event, performance, social sculpture, public sculpture, etc... Your mentor will offer motivation, critical feedback, and a touchstone to keep you on track. In mid-January you will present your mock-proposal in a semi-public round-table to receive peer-to-peer suggestions.
Mentors: Troy Gronsdahl, Xiao Han, Cheryl L’Hirondelle, & Laura St. Pierre
Organizers: Müveddet Al-Katib & Ella Dawn McGeough
